I am circumnavigating the earth by bicycle to establish a Guinness World Record while raising money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of my late parents – Wayne and Jane Record.
The journey will include over 18,000 miles of cycling and 24,000 miles total – including plane rides across various bodies of water – which ultimately equals the circumference of the earth. In accordance with Guinness World Records, I must cycle through two antipodal points (opposite ends of the earth). Mine will be Madrid, Spain and Wellington, New Zealand.
When the mission is complete, I will establish the world record for the oldest person to circumnavigate the earth by bicycle. The current record is age 56. When my journey begins on June 1, I will be 65 years old.
I will post pictures and stories on Facebook and Instagram daily (see links), and every “Tuesday Night from The Tent,” I will also record a podcast and post it on this website. You can also check out my location in real time by clicking on the “Where Am I” link at the top of the page. I hope you will follow the adventure as I ride my bicycle, interact with people from all walks of life, and share this amazing experience.
